Special Friends Camp West is an event for adult individuals (age 18 and older) with cognitive disabilities run by the Michigan District LCMS. The purpose of this event is three-fold:
Our Special Friends, each with their own unique set of abilities and challenges, travel across the state to attend the camp held at Camp Concordia, a Lutheran camp located in Gowen, Michigan (just north of Grand Rapids). The terrain, paths and roads at Camp Concordia are sand and require participants in the Special Friends Camp West to be able to be mobile.

Some people tend to think of our participants by what they cannot do, but we like to think of our Special Friends by what they CAN DO! Each participant is a gift from God. It is our JOY AND PRIVILEDGE to offer these experiences to these wonderful individuals.
