Camp & COVID-19 Information
Updated: December 15, 2020
Q: Does Camp Concordia have a plan for summer 2021?
A: Camp Concordia safely ran 4 weeks of children's week-long residential camps in 2020. In 2021, staff will continue to follow the guidance of the State Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. It's time for campers to experience God's love outdoors!
Q: How might things be different at camp in 2021?
A: We will stay current with the guidelines of the State Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. At the same time, it is imperative that parents/guardians understand that Camp Concordia cannot guarantee bacteria and viruses are not spread. Parents of registered campers will receive a 2021 Full Disclosure statement as well as additional information letting them know what we are doing. But the message - it will remain the same. Jesus will be our focus.
Q: Should I still register my child for camp?
A: REGISTER FOR SUMMER CAMP - Register your child for SUMMER CAMP now! Call the office if you have any questions.
Q: How is Camp Concordia doing financially during these trying times?
A: Times are not ideal, but we have worked hard to create a sustainable situation over the last 6 years through staff's personal sacrifice and hard work, through dramatically increased numbers of campers and through generous contributors.* All said, there is a limit to Camp Concordia's sustainability. In a worse case scenario, camp should be able to maintain itself financially into the spring if we cut back on facility repairs and updates.
*Also, camp has been approved for a small PPP loan from the SBA. We do not know at this point if that loan will be forgiven, but it will assist Camp Concordia in paying salaries for the months of May and June 2020.
Cost Information 2021
When registering, include $100 non-refundable deposit for each week and weekend camp session (i.e., 2 sessions = $200 deposit). Camp session fees are not refundable beginning 2 weeks prior to, and on the date of check-in.
Financial Assistance & Discounts
Camp Concordia is committed to working at getting every child that desires a camp experience at a Christian camp to be able to have that experience. Use the following means of reducing your rates and helping more kids get to camp at Camp Concordia. Installment plan available.
Early Registration Discounts
Returning campers registered online (for a regularly priced 6-day youth camp) before February 1, are eligible for an early registration discount of $50 off the total fees. After that date and before April 1, all campers are eligible for an early registration discount of $20 off the total fees. This is automatic during your registration process. (This discount does not apply to the already discounted first week of camp.)
Bring a Friend Discount
If you are a "past camper" and you are coming to a week-long camp session this summer; we will reduce your final payment by $30 for every "new camper" you bring to the same week-long summer residential camp program you are registered for (i.e., Trails Camp Session, Journey Camp Session).
Note: If you have NOT been to a Camp Concordia summer residential camp program, you may not take advantage of this discount (you may, however, request a camper scholarship form). Only past campers whose names are in the Camp Concordia master database can take advantage of this discount. This also does not apply to Family Camp nor if you were a camper decades ago (nice idea). Thanks for understanding.
If you have multiple children attending camp from the immediate family, and need financial assistance so they can all attend camp, you may request a $40 discount for the second child registered, an $80 discount for the third child registered and a $100 discount for the fourth+ when they are registering for a week-long summer overnight camp the same year. Watch for this in the online registration process.
Group Registration Discount
Churches sending 6 or more campers to the same week-long session may receive a $40 per camper discount and CC will provide sleeping quarters for a church coordinator (background checks required), if he/she stays on site and provides a few volunteer tasks. Your church's adult coordinator will need to verify that each camper has fully registered (including health history forms, liability forms, canteen spending money) and will need to come with all camper medications in a "Zip-Lock" bag separately labeled for each camper. To receive this discount, BEFORE registering for the camp session, the Church Coordinator must:
Camper Scholarship Fund
CC is committed to providing every child with a quality Christian camping experience. All money in this fund is contributed by individuals, families and congregations. Your personal contribution is tax deductible.
If finances are a problem, send your request for a scholarship to CC. Each request is considered according to need, status of scholarship fund and date of request. Request an application (include amount needed up to 50% of base rate and a letter of reference from your Pastor). Application needs to be sent in or connected online with your registration and deposit.
Questions? Contact us at 616-754-3785 or at Office@CampConcordia.org. Scholarships are not available for family camps or already discounted programs, such as: Week-long camps June 13-18, 2021, etc.
This was our first year sending our son to overnight camp so we had a number of questions regarding how to prepare him. The staff/Mary was always so responsive and helpful in answering our questions and putting our minds at ease both before camp started and also during his week at camp. Sam had a fantastic week--so much so that he wanted to stay longer! Thanks for all you did for all the kids this summer and for being there to support us first-timer parents in preparing to send our boy to camp. He is already talking about going again next summer!"
