the 2020s

2020 - the year of COVID-19. There were weeks of wondering whether we could run summer camp at all. Finally, in mid-June the "OK" came and summer camp ran for 4 weeks beginning July 5.

The Camp Concordia board of directors continues with a 9-Stage Master Plan that is reviewed yearly. Discussions with architects resulted from the need for replacing the 1958 bathrooms/showers and the positive financial situation resulting from the increase in camper usage and an estate gift from Mike & Sandee Lovett, long time supporters, board members and users of Camp Concordia.

2022 - there was a national shortage of workers that affected camps across the USA. In 2021, Camp Concordia had 22 summer ministry staff. In 2022, a wonderful staff of 9 made themselves available - forcing a reduction in usage.

October 15, 2022 - At the 2022 Annual Meeting, October 15, new bylaws were voted in by the "association" which effectively ended the association that had governed the board membership for 65 years and made the board of directors a self sustaining board. Board members retained or voted in at this historical event:
  • Cori Scholtens - President
  • Troy Ernst - Vice President
  • Phil Kowatch - Treasurer
  • Kelly (Malling) Oliver - Secretary
  • Luke Esselman
  • Bill Goetsch
  • Terry Ludford
  • Ed Newberg
  • Bill Schulz
